Why I chose Digital Marketing Program in Udacity
Once there was an exhausted woman who felt that she was sitting on a giant vinyl record and instead of spinning a 360-degree turn, just moves her a quarter of the record and just puts her back to where she started? The scary thing is, she has become accustomed to it that it became her comfort zone. She thought of jumping off but the fear of risk of getting hurt and the risk of not being in a position she’s comfortable with terrified her.
That’s me. After graduating I landed an office job as an Administrative Assistant in a hospital abroad, very far of what I studied in college, which was a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising. As an expat, I had to accept any offers that come to me to put food on my “company-provided accommodation’s” table.
Every day, for 10 years, I can honestly say, that I know my current job as an assistant by heart that it got me thinking that I needed more challenging jobs than this. I got so comfortable on that cracked record that I didn’t want to go down from it. Until it came to a point that it became nauseatingly comfortable. I needed a way to get out of this broken record. I needed a job where my college certificate will fit into. And Digital Marketing is the next best thing in this day and age
Until one day, while browsing around for practical affordable online courses, I stumbled upon the Udacity site. Couple of concerns was, “Ugh! Can I afford it?”, “Are they legit?”, “Is it worth my time?”.
Because of that, my curiosity got the best of me.
While going through the Udacity site, I discovered for myself that this is it. This is what I needed to keep me going and move out of my current job. This is my calling.
Besides affordable and seeing the amazing reviews from students, I liked how they have real hands-on projects which meant I can prove to myself that I am capable in doing this. I especially love that students can have interactions with other students and get feedbacks and have mentorships.
Because of that, I took a risk and signed up in the DMND Program and it was better than I expected.
Until finally, a change in me happened. I realized that it is my choice to not be stuck in a job that I don’t want. It is also my choice to change the path in my career and move forward.
Ever since then, I have always felt that I made the right choice of studying Digital Marketing in Udacity. I have accomplished things that I thought I would not be able to do (even if it was small). I am now enjoying the experience. The hopes of a career change with the help and support of Udacity gave me something to look forward to and never look back.
